Pleione Eiger 'Snowflake'
A beautiful white form of this early hybrid, which was named by Rainer Kretz. Obtained from one of the very early Pleione enthusiasts, F.E. Turner, Baildon, Yorks. in 1985, the origins of this clone remained a mystery for many years but thanks to another early grower, M. J. Hazelton, the puzzle has now been solved. It would appear that this cultivar originates from one of Dr. David Harberd’s early crosses (H30 or H40) of which several seedlings turned out to be Albinos. Smaller flowered, this is one of the daintiest of the Whites with especially good yellow lip markings.
