Pleione praecox 'Vietnamese form'
this appears to be the same plant described by Cribb/Butterfield in ‘The Genus Pleione’ as Pln. vietnamensis. A careful examination of its features, however, shows it to be very similar to its Thai/Burmese cousins, except for possessing only two lines of hairs on its lip and its geographic isolation. In their 1999
description Cribb/Butterfield expressed some reservations about according this plant specific status and I believe this is supported by the evidence from the plants themselves.
