Pleione Wharfedale 'Pine Warbler'

A superb and deservedly popular cross between the spring flowering ‘Hekla’ and the autumn flowering ‘Lassen Peak’ raised by Tony Smith in Yorkshire. Bulbs were passed to Ian Butterfield who distributed it further. The pale sepals and petals are beautifully blushed with violet-mauve and the almost solid red lip is complimented by hairy yellow keels and surrounded by a white rim. This is a true ‘beginners’ Pleione, which is very forgiving, increases well and rarely fails to make good flowering-size pseudobulbs. It often puts on a special show at Christmas time.
